Prescriptions

Borrisokane General Practice has a number of ways in which to order repeat prescriptions.

Please allow up to two working days for repeat prescriptions to be completed.

Repeat prescriptions will be sent electronically to the nominated pharmacy.

Fees may be applicable for prescriptions

Duration of repeat prescription will depend medical consideration and need for further intervention or surveillance bloods. A short-term script may be issued if such measures have not been undertaken.

Non-repeat acute prescription requests will not be accepted on the dedicated prescription phone line or by contacting reception. In order to obtain an acute prescription you will need to contact the practice and book an appointment.

Repeat Prescription requests can be completed in a number of ways:

  • The fastest and easiest way is to request your prescription using the dedicated repeat prescription phone-line – 067 27484
  • A paper repeat prescription request can be downloaded and completed and then returned to the practice via email, post or delivered in person and placed in the prescription drop-box.
  • A paper repeat prescription request form can also be obtained from reception and completed and returned to the prescription drop-box located at reception.

Laboratory Results

Borrisokane General practice operates a blood result phone line that can be consulted to discuss recent bloods investigations.

This phoneline is operational from 3-3:45pm on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Please allow 7 days before calling in relation to blood investigation results.

In situations where laboratory investigations require further action or review, the patient will be directly contacted by Borrisokane General practice.

Printout of laboratory results can be obtained from reception once reviewed but may incur a facility charge.

Communication from the practice may be specific to a particular issues or generic in nature, giving notification in relation to vaccine clinics or other practice activities.

 

Phone call process

Borrisokane General practice operate a no interruption policy during clinic opening hours. This policy means that during clinics, GPs and nurses will not take any routine phone calls, however, an exception may be made in the case of a medical emergency.

Borrisokane General practice offer a limited Telephone consultation service should someone be unavailable to attend in person or where a short telephone conversation may assist rather than attending in person.

This service is offered on a case by case basis and is subject to a charge.
